Have you noticed?

The snow is melting. The grass is greener. The days are longer. The birds are starting to sing. There’s no doubt about it – spring is in the air!

News about social distancing and closures can be overwhelming, but all the more reason to hit the reset button and take some of your time at home to rejuvenate.

Here are a few simple strategies to help you destress, feel good, and enjoy the coming of spring.

Go for a walk in the great outdoors

Many health professionals recommend taking between 8,000 and 10,000 steps each day, but that can be difficult during our current situation.

That doesn’t mean you can’t take a short walk outside while practicing social distancing and avoiding busy and closed spaces, like playgrounds.

Reconnecting with nature with a regular walk has been shown to reduce stress and boost happiness. At Elsie Perrin Williams Estate, you can enjoy a spring stroll on our 68 acres of beautifully maintained parkland – located right in the heart of London. There’s even free parking on site!

Our grounds are still open to locals during the state of emergency, however, just remember to follow the proper precautions for social distancing and hygiene.

Spring clean your diet

Being inside with your fridge just steps away can make it easy to over-indulge. And while we want you to enjoy your Easter chocolate, spring is also the season to start cleaning up your diet.

Now is the time to start loading up on fresh fruits and vegetables. Even though local markets are currently closed, many local grocers are offering curb-side pick-up and delivery options.

So keep your eyes open for locally-grown produce that come into season during March and April, like:

  • beets
  • carrots
  • mushrooms
  • peppers
  • sweet potatoes

And greenhouse favourites including:

  • strawberries
  • tomatoes
  • cucumbers
  • lettuce

Renew your body, mind, and spirit

If you’ve never tried yoga or mindful meditation, right now is the perfect time to start. Trying something new is one of the best things you can do to reenergize and lift your spirits, and you don’t have to leave your home to give it a try. You may even awaken some long-forgotten muscles and discover a new passion.

Several local yoga studios in London are offering virtual classes during closures – we encourage you to support local business and join a class. There are also many excellent yoga classes for beginners on YouTube, many of which are great for reducing stress and anxiety.

Elsie Perrin Williams Estate and Grosvenor Lodge are popular venues for yoga classes and meditation retreats. Both properties are quiet, secluded, and have plenty of space for yoga mats!

Our tours are currently cancelled due to the state of emergency, but feel free to reach out to our team for your event once it is safe and closures are lifted.
